Our Mission & Programs
Free, trusted tax help through IRS VITA—rooted in community partnership
Rio Bank VITA is a program of the Alonzo Community Service Foundation, an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2025. We provide free, confidential tax preparation and related support through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, working alongside community partners to help eligible neighbors file accurately and access the credits they’ve earned.
How funds help: Contributions help strengthen capacity—supporting volunteer training, technology and security tools, outreach and education, and the resources needed to serve more people efficiently.
Who We Serve
We serve the Rio Grande Valley of Texas (Hidalgo County), including McAllen (78501), with respectful, judgment-free support for individuals and families who qualify for free tax preparation through IRS VITA.
Appointments are available by appointment only: Tue 10am–4pm, Thu 10am–6pm, Sat 10am–1pm. If you’re not sure whether you’re eligible, we’ll help you figure it out and explain what to bring.
How we work
Confidential, accurate, and caring—every step of the way
Our volunteers are trained to prepare returns through the IRS VITA program and to treat every person with dignity and respect.
We’ll walk you through the process, help you organize what you need, and answer questions in plain language—so you understand what’s being filed and why. We can also provide guidance for setting up an IRS.gov account and support for eligible prior-year returns.
“We believe everyone deserves access to safe, reliable tax help—without the stress or the cost.”
